Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
West Ham of late has been a struggle and watching England last night was boring

what is going on? has the big money in the game finally killed off any connection with the working classes.

I just find it all brain numbing at the moment

when will the fun factor return?

PS this isn't a whoicide

Palace away must have been a laugh. Typically I was only holiday, so missed it.

Enjoyed the World Cup.... that's about it... will watch our games at a push but will normally wait and watch MotD.... much prefer the Racing and Rugby if I am being honest...

Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
modern day football is shit

after the game saturday my little un wanted some autographs so we waited round. a couple came out and signed, but carroll and zarate in particular just got into their cars. i wouldnt have minded but they were trapped in the car park so didnt get out for 20 mins.

for those 20 mins, why not go and sign a few autographs for the people that pay their wages?

Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
loved the world cup, England going out didn't surprise or bother me as it was expected

I found it hard to fathom that a player like Rooney who is a multi-millionaire cannot do the basics when playing for England and the game passes him by ala Nolan for West Ham

read an article the other regarding Zeki Friers the new palace player they signed from spurs - done nothing in his career to date but turns up to sign for palace in a Bentley

money has ruined the game and I certainly feel a disconnection from when I used to stand on the old North Bank in the early 90's

I can't say that watchint West Ham is fun because most of the time it isn't...

I enjoyed the World Cup though... Apart from England...

Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
Few decent moralistic footballers out there Penners but I'd say the majority are as far removed from the fans as it has ever been... saying that Ashley Cole surprised me when I met him... was actually a decent bloke who was up for a right laugh... but the majority?? Naaah... cunts

When I was a kid, my dad was never that bothered anymore in the football. I could never understand why.

Now I am 32 with kids, I am losing interest as well. To the point I've started getting my boy into rugby as well as football.

For me growing up in the Redknapp era, it was exciting, the ground was a shithole fortress and I loved it.

I would say since 2000 England have been shit and after Pardew got sacked, it's been downhill for me with West Ham since.

Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
penners - FYI some players have always refused autograoghs, it's by no means a modern day thing at all, in fact I'd say that footballers give more time to the fans these days than they use to.

The miserable cunt Frank Lampard SNR always use to blank the kids, I should know I was one of them.

I really enjoyed Spurs Vs Liverpool the other day, Chelsea are becoming very good to watch as well. Looking forward to seeing Di Maria Falcao at Utd, and also quite enjoy watching teams like Stoke evolve into a decent side.

West Ham has become a chore though, and I actually forgot England were even on last night until about 9:30. Gutted I missed that one as it sounded like a better.

Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
I massively gave up on the game and it didn't look like my son was ever going to really be bothered either, although I bought him the kits and all that just to sow the seed of being a Hammer and all that. But the World Cup flicked a switch inside him and he's now absolutely football mad. I loved the World Cup as well and now we've both got season tickets and West Ham is all he talks about. I'm loving it again now thanks to him. We may be shit but then we've been shit throughout most of my time anyway.

Yeah agree about SNR.. he was a moody cunt... well unless you was sticking a tenner of his till in his boozer that is...

Remember going in Mooro's shop as a 5 year old the old Man buying us a claret (blue piping) track suit ... the great man was there... even threw in a free sew on badge ... patted me on the head.. old man (who knew his Mum and dad) chatting for yonks... in absolute awe of the guy... you won't get any free sew on badges from Andy Carroll that's for fucking sure!!

Would help if we had actually won something, or at least played some decent football. It doesn't help going over there knowing what's in store at the moment.

NS - He was an absolute legend mate.

I've noticed that Van Gaal starts signing autographs as soon as the ref blows for full time, quite amusing.

Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
The bloated cash cow and so called best league in the world has turned me of the game. Just look what its done to our national side. I find myself at West Ham these days thinking about my next pint then the game.

Still there is hope. My son has just started his first season in the local under 7's team. His love for the game at his age is nice to see. Plus going see see non league football at Hampton and Richmond is always a tonic.

Maybe there is hope.

Re: Does anyone actually REALLY enjoy football anymore?
bang on. i think even the majority on here find it more interesting with a bet rather than for what it used to be.

football has just totally disconnected itself from the public..the behaviour of players has not helped, the wages.

its all too predictable too

Watching WH and England is masochism of the highest order. I'm getting totally fed up with it all. It's certainly not entertainment and Hodgson and Allardyce are two peas from the same pod...
